Maldita Castilla

Developer description:

The lament of a young witch has been turned into a key for demons. Guide Don Ramiro through the cursed lands of Tolomera and expel the evil that entered the Kingdom of Castile.

Maldita Castilla (Cursed/damn Castile) is an action arcade game full of myths from Spain and the rest of Europe. The graphic style is raw, made pixel by pixel with a limited color palette, like in the old days, and displayed through a dirty old monitor effect. Also, Gryzor87 composed the music emulating the Yamaha YM2203 sound chip, so that the game has real arcade sound.

Super Crate Box

Super-Crate-Box

Developer description:

Vlambeer’s SUPER CRATE BOX is coming to bring back the glory of the golden arcade age, when all that really mattered was getting on that high score list. Grab your baseball cap and loosen your pants, it’s time to fight endless hordes of enemies and collect every weapon crate you can. Prepare for an arcade delight with tight controls, refreshing game mechanics, cracking retro art and a terribly hip chiptune soundtrack.

Iji

iji gameplay

Developer description:

Iji is an action-packed strategic platform shooter with a detailed story, large levels with multiple paths, powerful bosses and lots of secrets. There are alternate gameplay events, dialogues and scenes depending on what you do, a wealth of extras and bonus features, and seven stats to upgrade through a leveling system. Iji herself has superhuman strength and abilities, and can crack Nanotechnology, use her enemies’ most devastating weapons against them, and be a pacifist or a killer – the story adapts to how you play. Soundtrack by Chris Geehan and Dan Byrne McCullhough, songs also by Tom Mauritzon and Captain Goodnight (and LifeForce, but their song was not originally recorded for Iji).

Legend of Princess

Developer description:

Ah, yes, my one fangame! This whole idea came from joining the desire to make a Zelda-game and wanting to try out making an action game that has its levels change slightly depending on your equipment.

It was a simple idea and it was really fun to make this using satirical renderings of famous characters, but since it’s a fangame I couldn’t make a whole game out of it. It feels that time is better spent on original creations!

Have fun! Beware, though, it doesn’t really play like a Zelda-game so there’s always the chance that you may not enjoy it as much. This is in no way how I’d actually want a true Zelda game to be either, it was just for fun.

Tower of Heaven

tower

Developer description:
Join Eid, a tenacious silent protagonist, on his adventure within the Tower of Heaven, a mysterious monolith that promises glory to those who scale it and death to those who cannot. Collect secrets and conquer obstacles under the jurisdiction of God, rumored to inhabit the tower, and his ever-growing list of rules, which directly govern gameplay and make progress increasingly difficult.

Tower of God has spawned a revamped retro graphic style (only 3 colors are ever used) and an epic soundtrack that pays homage to the classic tunes of the Game Boy era.

Focus

focus2

Developer description:

Platformer game with a teleporting mechanic. Use your focus powers to avoid missiles! You need twitchy fingers for this one. Very addictive, very difficult just-one-more-go.

Please note: on some keyboards using Space in combination with 2 arrow keys causes problems (not all 3 keys will be registered). If so you can change the Focus key to CTRL on the start-up screen.

Bear Surfin Mega Wave

Image

Developer description:

A short difficult fast paced crazy weird arcade game with hectic graphics. You are ‘Bear’ surfing a Mega Wave.

Use the mouse to maneuver Bear around obstacles. Try to get crates and health packs. When the counter reaches zero you win.

Music by scrogginaut.newgrounds.com

I still think the game needs some adjustments, and more work on the ‘ending’.
